The state Ethics Commission issued final adjudications under the Public Official and Employee Ethics Act for matters involving three former Monroeville elected officials.
Greg Erosenko, who served as mayor for 10 years and later represented Ward 5 on municipal council, was found to be in violation of the section of the act addressing conflicts of interest, as were former council members Linda Gaydos, Ward 1, and Ronald Harvey, Ward 3.
According to an ethics commission order released Tuesday, all three as members of council used the authority of their public positions for “private pecuniary benefits” for themselves and/or members of their immediate families.
Erosenko participated “in actions and discussions with the municipal manager, resulting in his wife getting hired by the municipal manager,” the commission reported. He is directed to pay $2,500 to the municipality.
Gaydos’ violation is in connection with her “engaging in discussions with other members of council … and by voting to approve the nomination of a member of her immediate family to a paid position on the Zoning Hearing Board of the municipality of Monroeville,” according to the commission. Her payment to the municipality is set at $1,500.
The commission found that Harvey voted “to approve the nomination of a member of his immediate family for a paid position on the Monroeville Municipal Authority Board.” He is to pay $1,000 to the municipal authority.
Erosenko and Gaydos are directed further to provide amended statements of financial interests to the municipality.
