Man, 70, shot outside Larimer nursing home
A 70-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday after being shot outside a Pittsburgh nursing home.
The man was shot in the stomach about 12:35 p.m. outside Corner View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in the 6600 block of Frankstown Avenue in the city’s Larimer neighborhood, police said.
The victim, who police didn’t name, told police the suspect stole cash and a wedding ring.
He told police he did not know the shooter.
The nursing home went into a lockdown after the victim, who does not live there, entered the building after being shot, Administrator John S. Austin III said.
The shooting took place in the facility’s parking lot, according to police.
After the victim was taken to the hospital, the lockdown was lifted, Austin said.
No residents, families or staff were injured.
Police have not announced any charges or information about the suspect.
