Chamber awards scholarship
The winner of the 2023 Common Good Foundation Scholarship, awarded through the South West Regional Chamber of Commerce in Collier, is Ezmerelda Shaub.
A recent graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, Ezmerelda received $1,000 toward pursuing a degree at Slippery Rock University.
At Canon-McMillan, she was a National Honor Society member and was on the school’s newly formed female wrestling team, taking first place in her weight class in the 2023 Butler Girls Invitational..
The Common Good Foundation Scholarship is directly funded by the chamber of commerce’s car raffle. The 31st annual raffle, sponsored by Chick-fil-A, takes place this summer. Tickets are available at southwestregionalchamber.org/register/car-raffle-2023-2.
Bridge replacement
In Bridgeville, PennDOT plans to replace a McLaughlin Run Road bridge in a project that is expected to take place in 2025.
The structure crossing McLaughlin Run is near the Upper St. Clair line and next to the entrance to McLaughlin Run Park. According to PennDOT, the project includes minor approach roadway work, drainage and guardrail upgrades, signing and pavement markings.
A proposed 5.5-mile detour route would take traffic along Bower Hill, Painters Run and McMillan roads.
Tea party in Scott
A tea party for children ages 10 and older is scheduled for Aug. 13 at the Scott Township Park Lodge.
Cost is $25 per person and includes hot and cold tea, assorted tea sandwiches, croissant sandwiches, and pastries and Sweets. A Chinese auction, 50-50 raffle and door prizes will be featured.

Collier Concerts in the Park
Concerts are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sundays at Collier Community Park, 5 Pvt. Lobaugh Drive. Performances continue with: July 9, Stray Dogs; July 16, Lucky Me; July 23, November Blue; July 30, The Clarks: Scott, Rob and Greg; Aug. 13, Timothy Earl; and Aug. 27, Hewlett Anderson.
