Students in the Hampton School District return to classes on Aug. 21.

Holiday breaks: Thanksgiving, Nov. 27-Dec. 1; winter, Dec. 24-Jan. 4; spring, April 2-6

Enrollment: 2,600

Lunch prices: Elementary, $2.60; middle and high school, $2.90, each up 10 cents

District phone number: 412-486-6000

District website: ht-sd.org

What’s new: Colleen Hannagan, previously principal of Poff Elementary, is resigning and will be replaced by the previous assistant principal of Hampton High School, Joshua Cable.

Hampton High School is changing its daily schedule to a 3, 2 flex model. It includes a traditional 42-minute, eight-period day for three days a week and an 80-minute, four-period day schedule on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The 3, 2, flex scheduling also will allow for 75-minute “Lunch and Learn” periods, offering students the choice to use the time for lunch, tutoring, make-up quizzes and tests, enrichment activities, club meetings and other opportunities.

The schedule also supports senior release time and students attending the A.W. Beattie Career Center.
