Two Shaler Area High School students have been recognized by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association as the top vocalists in the state by being selected for its All-State Chous.

Sophomore Zoe Babbit (soprano 1) and junior Alex Almonte (bass 1) started this journey in November when they auditioned into PMEA District Chorus. After their audition at Region Chorus on March 20, both Zoe and Alex were announced as two of the top high school singers in Pennsylvania. Only six singers from each vocal section of 21 students are selected for this prestigious honor.

The All-State Chorus rehearsals and performance will take place at the 2019 PMEA All-State and NAfME Eastern Division Conference in Pittsburgh on April 4-7, 2019. The conductor for the all-state chorus is renowned conductor Jerry O. Blackstone from the University of Michigan.
