The Hampton High School spring musical production of “Into the Woods” received three Gene Kelly Awards: Best Scenic Design (Budget Level II), Best Vocal Ensemble (Budget Level II), and Best Musical (Budget Level II).

On May 28, Hampton High School performing arts students participated in the 31st annual Gene Kelly Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theater at the Benedum Theater in Pittsburgh.

“Into the Woods” received nine nominations, including Best Musical (Budget Level II), which garnered them a performance from “Into the Woods” on the Benedum stage in front of a sold-out crowd. Out of the 32 participating schools, only eight received such a recognition and honor.

“It was an incredible night and Hampton’s performing arts students got to meet and perform alongside talented students from across Allegheny County,” said Daniel Franklin, Hampton High School musical theater director. “Congratulations to the cast, crew, and orchestra of “Into the Woods.”
