Volunteers, law enforcement celebrate National Thank a Police Officer Day

Members of the National Thank a Police Officer Day AK Valley Team spent Sept. 17 bringing bags of gifts and thank you notes to law enforcement from Fox Chapel to Kittanning and many stations in between.

The annual appreciation day takes place the third Saturday in September.

More than 900 officers in 55 police departments were to have received gifts this year from the AK Valley Team.

The gift bags contained small notebooks, candy bars, gum, lip balm and more.

Jodi Lippert and her daughter, Taylor, made their delivery to the Fox Chapel Police Department as they have done the past six years.

Jodi’s husband, Chad Lippert, is one of its officers.

Police thanked the ladies and the team for its continued support.
