Shady Side Academy in Fox Chapel celebrates Diwali

Students at Shady Side Academy in Fox Chapel take part in an after-school, on-campus Diwali party on Oct. 20 to celebrate the Indian festival of lights. On the table are lamps called diyas, which are lit in celebration of Diwali.

Shady Side Academy celebrated Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, with an assembly on Oct. 20 at the senior school to explain the holiday and an after-school party that featured snacks and activities.

Diwali is a celebration of light over darkness, good over evil. Diwali was celebrated on Oct. 24.
