Emilie Lepic, a 9-year-old student at Blessed Trinity Academy in Indiana Township was the runner-up in the girls’ division of the Allegheny County Marbles Tournament and represented Allegheny County in the National Marbles Championship in Wildwood, N.J., which kicked off June 18.
Emilie is the daughter of Amber Lepic.
The Allegheny County Marbles Tournament was held May 18-20 in the courtyard of the Allegheny County Courthouse, Downtown. The winners and the runners-up in the county tournament went on to compete in the nation event.
The National Marbles Championship was founded in 1922 and is the longest-running kids’ tournament in the country. It has provided thousands of dollars in college scholarships to the national champions and winners of the sportsmanship award for their professional skills in the rings. More than 1,200 games are played over the four-days of the event.
The Allegheny County Marbles Program is free and fun for youth ages 14 and under and kicks off each spring with events leading up to the County marbles Championship.
