When Fox Chapel Area students head back to school for the 2022-23 school year on Aug. 23, educators nationwide will be watching.

The Fox Chapel Area School District was named a Learning 2025 Demonstration System to Watch by The School Superintendents Association, a professional organization of more than 13,000 educators worldwide.

The district is one of only 18 across the United States to receive this designation in 2022.

Fox Chapel Area School District was recognized for providing a student-centered, equity-focused, and future-driven educational system for all learners with specific attention to cognitive growth.

The district’s award was accepted by Superintendent Dr. Mary Catherine Reljac during the association’s Learning 2025 Summit in Washington, D.C., at the end of June. During the national conference, Reljac co-presented a session on the district’s cognitive growth model.

“The Fox Chapel Area School District is pleased to be recognized nationally for its strong work on behalf of students,” said Reljac.

Student-centered, equity-focused, future-driven education is a movement that calls for holistic redesign of the public school system by 2025.
