Hundreds of people lined Freeport Road in Blawnox for the borough’s Memorial Day parade and service on May 29.

Participants included borough council members, local veterans, classic car drivers, the Fox Chapel Area High School Band, members of the Blawnox Community Garden and the Blawnox, Fox Chapel and Aspinwall fire departments.

A service immediately followed the parade at the borough veterans monument. Army Spec. 4 Ken Messing placed a wreath, and speakers included Debbie Laskey, borough council president. Rev. Stephen Abaukaka, chaplain for the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, gave the benediction.

Blawnox Mayor Anthony W. Gross was master of ceremonies
