The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will partner with the Latino Community Center the week of Oct. 12 to raise awareness for the organization’s mission to empower, advocate with and celebrate Latinos in Allegheny County.

The initiative is part of the food bank’s ongoing Food Justice is Social Justice campaign, and it’s the focus of this week’s Food Podcast presented by Clearview Federal Credit Union.

“The goal of this campaign is to create awareness about social inequality, while educating the Food Bank’s service area of numerous organizations in the region that are focused on ending racism and creating equality for all,” food bank Vice President Brian Gulish said. “We see the Latino Community Center’s goal of making sure all Latinos have equal and equitable access to resources they need to thrive as being in line with the core value of our Food Justice is Social Justice campaign.”

Also on this week’s show, Gulish provides facts and figures on food insecurity in Southwestern Pennsylvania and how multiple food bank programs are available to provide food to people in need.
