The FBI in Pittsburgh and Reserve Township police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the man who robbed a Reserve Township bank last month, the same suspect they believe may have robbed a Shaler bank five years ago.
Investigators said they saw similarities between the man who robbed the Standard Bank at 2000 Mt. Troy Road in Reserve, at about 2:30 p.m. May 27, 2022, and the 2017 bank robber in Shaler.
The Standard Bank robber was described as being more than 6 feet tall, wearing blue jeans, a white ball cap, blue and white jacket with a logo on the front.
The man who robbed the NexTier Bank at 1626 Babcock Blvd. in Shaler on the morning of April 29, 2017, was described as being close to 6 feet tall, in his mid-20s, with a slim or slender builder.
The suspected robber at the Shaler bank was wearing a flat-brimmed Pirates cap with a gold P and sticker on the brim, a light blue, hooded Puma sweatshirt with white stripes across chest and sleeves and black tennis shoes.
Anyone with information regarding either robbery should contact the FBI in Pittsburgh at 412-432-4000. The phone answers 24 hours a day, and tipsters may remain anonymous.
