Done dill: Picklesburgh festival returns for another year
It’s a sign of the season: Picklesburgh.
The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership on Thursday announced the pickle-themed festival will be back for another year. PDP officials noted that they are still working with the city to “finalize a new footprint,” which likely means the event will be even larger than in years past.
The festival is slated for July 15-17.
“As a signature event for the city and region, and with such a dedicated fan base in Pittsburgh, we’re always excited to share the news of its return,” Jeremy Waldrup, president and chief executive of the downtown partnership, said in a pickle pun-filled statement.
The festival debuted in 2015 and has drawn massive crowds each year since – save for a pandemic-driven hiatus in 2020. In 2019, Picklesburgh was chosen as the No. 1 best specialty food festival in America in a USA Today reader poll.
Organizers promise a “unique space for festivalgoers to linger, enjoy food, listen to music and relish the energy of the event.” The massive Heinz pickle balloon will return, and the event will, as in years past, offer live performances and pickle everything: cocktails, beer, juice, apparel and other merchandise.
