As coronavirus cases are beginning to rise at a seemingly slower rate in Allegheny County and across the country, the communities within the Shaler Journal area are following that trend.

As of Jan. 20, there have been 1,508 total cases of the novel coronavirus in Shaler since March, according to the latest information provided by an interactive Allegheny County covid-19 map. The township has reported 18 deaths, and 7,290 tests have been administered to residents.

Since the pandemic began, Etna has had 173 cases (one death), Millvale has had 166 cases (one death) and Reserve has had 163 cases (two deaths).
