A Marshall couple in their early 80s were found dead late Sunday in what Allegheny County Police are calling a murder-suicide in Marshall.

Allegheny County Medical Examiner has identified them as Carole, 80, and Roger Smith, 81.

Police said emergency responders were notified a little after 9 p.m. Sunday of a homicide in the 600 block of Spang Road.

Police said they found a woman and man dead of gunshot wounds. Their preliminary investigation shows the man shot his wife and called 911 before shooting himself.

The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to a request for assistance in Marshall and will be continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-833-255-8477 (ALL-TIPS).
