Pittsburgh police plan to excavate an area in the Perry North neighborhood after receiving a tip about a 40-year-old cold case.
According to TribLive news partner WTAE, police will work with crews from Greater Pittsburgh Plumbing to help dig up land in the neighborhood which could be connected to a cold case from the 1980s.
“We’re going to be taking our excavator down to the site and digging with the city of Pittsburgh police and detectives there to try to figure out what’s going on with this case,” Greater Pittsburgh Plumbing owner Kelsey Hussack told WTAE.
Police told WTAE its cold case unit received a tip from someone believing a body was buried under land in the ’80s. Police made it clear they are not sure if they will find remains or not, since the tip is from a decades-old recollection.
