Ukrainian Easter egg events set

A Ukrainian Easter egg workshop is scheduled for March 25 at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 220 Mansfield Blvd., Carnegie.

The first session, from 9 a.m. to noon, is a general class in making traditional eggs using beeswax and dyes. The class is for ages 8 and older.

An advanced class for ages 13 and up will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

The church will host its 55th Annual Ukrainian Easter egg sale on April 2, featuring more than 1,200 items. The kitchen will be open, serving a variety of Ukrainian foods.

Festival hours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fr. John Charest will give church tours at noon, 1 and 2.

Bridgeville Area Historical Society programs

Upcoming programs of the Bridgeville Area Historical Society are scheduled:

• “Early Railroads in the Chartiers Valley,” presented by John Oyler, 1:30 p.m. Jan. 29.

• “Bridgeville WWII POWs: Abood, Calabro and Shady,” presented by Georganne Abood Hensen, 1:30 p.m. Feb. 26.

• “The Greatest Movies and the Best and the Worst Celebrity Interviews,” presented by Ed Blank, 7:30 p.m. March 28.

All programs are free and open to the public. They are held in the Chartiers Room at Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department, 370 Commercial St.

South Hills Women’s Club meets

The next South Hills Women’s Club meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Scott Park Lodge, Scott Township.

Following the meeting, members can enjoy a night of bingo and snacks. Anyone interested in attending or joining can call Susan at 412-953-3209.

Apply for chamber scholarship

The South West Regional Chamber of Commerce, headquartered in Collier, has partnered with The Common Good Foundation and is accepting applications for its 2023 scholarship.

The application is open to high school seniors in southwestern Pennsylvania. Please complete and return your application by Feb. 14.

To be eligible, seniors must have a minimum 3.2 grade point average, provide one teacher recommendation and copy of high school transcript, and submit an essay and 30-second video introduction.

Seniors for Safe Driving courses

Seniors for Safe Driving is offering senior citizen driver improvement courses to help motorists understand how aging affects driving abilities and prove insight about navigating today’s roads.

The PennDOT-approved courses are designed for drivers age 55 and older, and include no testing or behind-the-wheel driving. As mandated by Pennsylvania law, those who complete the courses receive a multi-year discount on auto insurance.

Upcoming courses include:

• Upper St. Clair Recreation Department, 1551 Mayview Road, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 23.

• South Fayette Parks and Recreation, 515 Millers Run Road, 5 to 9 p.m. March 7.
