Carlynton High School has released plans for a virtual commencement ceremony to honor the class of 2020.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. June 5 and will be livestreamed through TribLive.com. The ceremony will include pomp and circumstance and speeches by senior class officers and the valedictorian and salutatorian. Seniors will be acknowledged using their senior photos and each graduate’s name will be announced and recognized as if they were walking to receive a diploma. A traditional graduation program will be printed and all graduates will receive several copies as a keepsake.

Loved ones will have the opportunity to cheer their graduate virtually by creating a short video message that will be aired at the end of video. Videos should be no longer than 15 seconds and recorded on a mobile device by holding the phone vertically. Once the video is complete, attach the video to an email and send to seniorgrad@carlynton.k12.pa.us. Videos must be submitted by May 20.

The district also announced that the junior-senior prom scheduled for May 22 at BellaSera in Canonsburg has been canceled.
