Olivia Jame Kalimon was honored by the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh on May 14 at an awards dinner at Duquesne University.

Olivia, a student majoring in biochemistry at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a 2015 Carlynton graduate, received the College Chemistry Award at the dinner. The award includes both a monetary prize for her achievements in science, and framed certificate of accomplishment. She will also be recognized through a monetary award presented to the IUP library in her honor along with an engraved nameplate.

The Society of Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh has honored students since 1961 by choosing one student from each college in the tri-state area who demonstrated excellence in the field of chemistry.

This is another award in her accomplished academic career that includes: Recipient of the Provost Scholar, Recipient of Sutton Scholar, Department of Chemistry Academic Achievement Award, and Dean’s List all four years. She was also the captain of the IUP Women’s Ultimate Frisbee team.

Olivia is the daughter of Ken and Linda Kalimon.
