BP native and ROTC cadet recognized

Twenty-six cadets from Slippery Rock University’s U.S. Army ROTC program became commissioned officers during an April 30 ceremony in the university’s Smith Student Center Ballroom. Among them was Dillon Pusateri, a junior political science major from Bethel Park. Pusateri also received the American Legion ROTC Military Excellence Award, which recognizes a cadet in the top 25% of the class in academic and ROTC subjects. Pusateri’s award was from the Slippery Rock American Legion Post 393.

YSU student performs

Youngstown State University student Connor Remington of Bethel Park, performed last month when the Youngstown State University Dana School of Music presented three free outdoor concerts. Remington is studying for a bachelor of music in music education tuba at YSU.

Graduated with 4.0

Justina Mascaro, a finance and economics major in the Cook Honors College from Bethel Park, graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a perfect 4.0 GPA. The daughter of John and Holly Mascaro, she is a 2017 graduate of Bethel Park High School. A member of the women’s basketball team, she was IUP’s 2020 Scholar Athlete of the Year, was a PSAC Scholar Athlete, Defensive Player of the Week and two-time PSAC West Athlete of the Week. She was selected for the PSAC Women’s Basketball First Team All-Conference. She was a volunteer for the Indiana School Enrichment program at the YMCA, the YMCA Miracle League, the YMCA Basketball Camp and the Homer City Elementary School Respect program. She was a tutor for the fundamentals of finance class.
