Allegheny County sees positivity rate for new covid-19 cases jump
Allegheny County had 71 new covid-19 cases Tuesday, according to the county’s Health Department.
In addition, 11 new hospitalizations and no new deaths were reported. Tuesday marked the fourth consecutive day without a coronavirus-related death.
The county now has 12,305 cases, 1,211 total hospitalizations and 380 deaths.
New cases came from 736 PCR tests, with 19 of the 72 cases being probable. The positivity rate for reported cases Tuesday was 9.65%, which is the highest it has been since Sept. 19 when it was 10.27%.
Date of positive tests range from Aug. 29-Sept. 28. The county claims the Aug. 29 test is an outlier, and all other tests range from Sept. 22-Sept. 28. Ages of new cases range from 16 to 91, with a median age of 38.

According to the state’s covid-19 dashboard, there are 49 covid-19 patients hospitalized in the county, with seven on a ventilator.
Allegheny County updated its weekly municipality/neighborhood breakdown of covid-19 cases Monday, which tracks cases, deaths, people tested and positivity rate. Baldwin Borough (465), Penn Hills (380), Ross (367), Mt. Lebanon (310) and Monroeville (266) were tops for most cases. Ross (36), Richland (31), Glen Hazel (21), Kennedy (20) and Baldwin Borough (13) had the most deaths.
