Allegheny County on Thursday reported 139 new coronavirus cases with no new deaths. It’s the highest single-day report since July.

The county’s total number of cases stands at 13,672 with 9,792 recoveries. According to the Allegheny County Health Department’s covid-19 dashboard, 196,641 individuals have been tested for the virus. The county has an overall 7% positive test result rate.

Out of Thursday’s cases, the Allegheny County Health Department said 101 were confirmed and 38 were probable (15 of the probables are positive antigen tests) from 1,695 PCR tests.

New cases range in age from 4 to 87 years old with a median age of 44 years old. The dates of positive tests ranged from July 7-Oct. 14. The department said that they were aware of the July 7 case but it wasn’t recorded until recently. The other tests were from the past seven days Oct. 7-14.

The age groups of the newly reported cases — 80 male and 59 female — are:

  • 0-4: 1
  • 5-12: 3
  • 13-18: 6
  • 19-24: 29
  • 25-49: 43
  • 50-64: 31
  • 65+: 26

Since March, the county reported that 397 people have died, while 1,308 people have been hospitalized.

On Wednesday, Allegheny County officials said they are keeping an eye on the local increase in covid-19 cases, but they aren’t panicking.

“This slow increase should remind us that things aren’t getting better in Allegheny County,” Health Director Debra Bogen. “But they also aren’t getting substantially worse, as they are in other parts of the state or the country.”
