On Tuesday, 58 additional covid-19 cases were reported in Allegheny County, according to the health department.
Total deaths from coronavirus increased in the county, as three new deaths were reported after two days with no new deaths. There were seven new hospitalizations reported, as well.
Of the new cases, 53 are confirmed and five probable. The new cases came from 1,034 test results with positive tests from Aug. 13-24. Ages of new cases range from 5 to 93, with a median age of 41.
In the last seven days, new cases have trended downward, with fewer than 30 new cases reported Aug. 19 and Aug. 24. In addition, the seven-day average for new cases now stands at 63, which rivals late June figures.
Allegheny County’s coronavirus case total is now 9,990.
Allegheny County coronavirus by dayInfogramThe latest recorded deaths occurred from Aug. 12-23, with two being associated with a long-term care facility. Two people were their 80s, and one person was in their 90s.
The death total in Allegheny County has now climbed to 309. Total hospitalizations are now at 933.
In the county, there are 93 covid-19 patients currently hospitalized, with 21 requiring ventilation.
There have been four instances in August in which new reported cases have been 100 or more. In July, the opposite happened, as there were only two instances where cases where below 100.
