Allegheny County added 46 cases of coronavirus to its tally Monday, according to a report from the county Health Department.

In the past seven days, the county has seen 543 new cases.

The new positives come from 848 PCR tests conducted from Sept. 30-Oct. 4. The new cases range in age from 2 to 94 years old, with a median age of 35. All of the new covid cases were confirmed. On Monday, the county reclassified five previous “probable” cases to “confirmed.”

The county said no new deaths were reported.

Among the new cases — 19 of which were females, 27 males — the largest group (15) were from those ages 25-49. The next highest group was those ages over 65 (14), followed by ages 13-18 (5), ages 50-64 (5), ages 19-24 (4), ages 0-4 (2) and ages 5-12 (1).

According to the state’s covid-19 tracking website, there are currently 64 county residents in the hospital for the virus, with 11 of them on ventilators. According to the state, there are 813 operational ventilators in the county, with 174 (21.4%) currently in use for all illnesses. To date, 1,229 residents have been hospitalized for the virus, with two new hospitalization announced by the county Monday.

The county’s website is reporting outcomes in 9,541 cases — with 9,155 assumed to be recovered and 386 deaths. The current recovery rate for those whose case has an outcome is nearly 96%. Out of the county’s 12,777 total covid-19 cases, there remain 3,190 cases without an assumed outcome. Individuals are considered to be “recovered” based on one of two conditions: It’s been 32 days since the person was hospitalized for covid-19 and not deceased; or, if they were not hospitalized, 14 days since they tested positive.

Since the pandemic began in March, 191,751 county residents have been tested for the virus, with 178,974 reported negative — meaning 93.3% of those tested have been negative.
