At least five people were injured when a man drove his car head-on into a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus Wednesday morning on the North Side, according to the transit agency.

The driver hit the inbound 8 Perrysville bus around 10 a.m. near Cedar Avenue and Suismon Street in East Allegheny, just blocks from Allegheny General Hospital, PRT spokesperson Adam Brandolph said.

The driver of the car, who Brandolph did not name, was unconscious but breathing after the crash. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital. No condition was available.

The bus operator and three passengers also were taken to Allegheny General Hospital to be checked “for non-serious injuries,” Brandolph said.

There were 16 passengers on the bus at the time of the crash, Brandolph said.

No charges against the driver have been made. PRT police are investigating.
