Three people were taken to local hospitals, including one in critical, but stable, condition after a vehicle struck two homes early Saturday morning in Pittsburgh’s Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood, according to police.

Police were called to the 2600 block of Woodland Avenue for a report that an SUV had struck the porch of one home before crashing into another around 2:15 a.m.

They arrived to find the driver pinned between the car and the second house. Police said he was freed from the wreckage by rescue crews and transported by medics in stable condition.

The second house was evacuated. A child was taken to the hospital in stable condition, while an adult was transported in critical, but stable, condition, according to police.

Officials from the Red Cross’ Southwestern Pennsylvania chapter said they assisted eight people who were displaced by the crash.

A police officer was also treated at the scene for a hand injury.

City inspectors were on-site to assess the stability of both buildings.

Police are investigating.
