Two people including a firefighter were injured by a fire in a row house in Pittsburgh’s Beltzhoover neighborhood Saturday, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials.
Firefighters and emergency response crews were called to a row house fire in the 300 block of Boggston Avenue just before 5 p.m.
The fire was first reported as a kitchen fire, authorities said.
When police arrived on scene they saw visible flames at the back of one end of a five-unit row house, according to public safety spokesperson Cara Cruz. She said officers began evacuating residents from the apartments, a few of which were unoccupied.
One female was transported to the hospital by medics for burn injuries and smoke inhalation. A fire department truck captain was also taken to the hospital for debris in his eyes.
Cruz said firefighters kept the flames contained to the one unit.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
