Pittsburgh’s 10th Street Bypass reopened Tuesday after it had closed due to flooding, according to PennDOT.
The 10th Street Bypass between Fort Duquesne Boulevard and the Fort Duquesne Bridge and I-279 had closed after Downtown Pittsburgh’s riverfront began to flood Sunday.
The flooding spurred road closures at the bypass and the ramps from northbound and southbound I-279 to the 10th Street Bypass.
First responders also had to rescue a homeless man from flooding in the Mon Wharf area Sunday night. A homeless encampment at the Mon Wharf flooded, and public safety officials said people will not be permitted to move back into the tent encampment there because of safety concerns around the flooding.
Adam Ameel, Pittsburgh’s emergency critical infrastructure manager, said officials anticipate the rivers will recede to normal levels Thursday.
