1 dead, 1 injured in Hill District shooting
A 30-year-old man died and another man was injured early Wednesday morning in a shooting in the Hill District, according to Pittsburgh police.
Derrick Eggleton of Pittsburgh was taken to the emergency room at UPMC Mercy Hospital in critical condition after being shot in the abdomen. He was pronounced dead about an hour later, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.
The other man was shot in the arm and taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Officers received ShotSpotter alerts just before 12:15 a.m. in the area of Webster Avenue and Lawson Street.
At the scene, police said they found a number of shell casings in the area, and at least one house in the 2220 block of Webster Avenue was damaged by the shooting.
Detectives are investigating the incident.
No arrests have been made for the shooting as of Wednesday morning.
