Travel tip: To drive abroad, Americans need international permit
The number of Americans traveling abroad is on the rise, according to a survey by AAA, which says the number of Americans wanting to drive during their international travels also is growing.
In that case, travelers should look into obtaining an International Driving Permit, AAA says. Many countries do not recognize U.S. driver’s licenses without an accompanying IDP and, of course, it is illegal to drive without a valid license and insurance in most places.
The IDP translates U.S. driver’s license information into 10 different languages, and more than 150 countries accept it.
