Travel tip: New York City is top spot for Valentine’s getaways

Taxicabs speed down Broadway in Times Square in New York City, the nation’s top destination for Valentine’s Day getaways.

Valentine’s Day isn’t a holiday usually associated with travel, but Global Traveler says New York City is the top U.S. destination for those who do plan a romantic getaway.

Little wonder, since the Big Apple offers so many options for dining, entertainment, culture and just plain sight-seeing.

Other top destinations include Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta, Boston and Las Vegas.

Travelers leaving the country like destinations in Mexico and Canada, including Cancún, San José del Cabo and Mexico City to the south and Vancouver and Toronto to the north.
