Bishop Edward C. Malesic, Diocese of Greensburg, joins Sister Catherine Meinert, provincial superior/president of the United States province of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill, for a photo March 30 during the 11th annual Sounds of Charity, hosted by the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill, held at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center in Hempfield.

The Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill are a pretty swingin’ bunch of cool cats.

They proved it once again March 30 with their 11th annual Sounds of Charity big-band dance party, held at the Ramada Greensburg Hotel and Conference Center.

Following a buffet dinner and a jumpin’, jivin’ performance by Seton Hill University student dancers, the Wally Gingers Orchestra took to the bandstand and guests took to the dance floor.

Sister Louise Grundish, the event chairwoman, said proceeds benefit a number of missions, including the Mary House in Uniontown, which serves women who are homeless or in need of transitional housing; the Seton Center in Pittsburgh, which provides care and learning programs to people of all ages; and needs at Seton Hill University.

The popular event had outgrown Seton Hill’s McKenna Center, necessitating a move this year to a larger venue, Grundish said. Attendance topped 280, the biggest crowd ever.

Among organizers were Terri Murphy, Elizabeth Murphy, Annette Russell, Kathy Campbell, Malinda Sherid and Dennis and Carol Ledgerwood.

Special guests were Sister Catherine Meinert, provincial superior/president of the United States province of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill; and General Superior Sister Sung Hae Kim.
