The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Mt. Pleasant continued its popular Me and My Special Guy Dance with a doubleheader on Feb. 22 in Roosevelt Hall in Norvelt.

The event has grown so much over the years that, for the second time, the organization offered two sessions to accommodate the interest. Registration was 250 for the afternoon session and 300 for the evening, said ACS community development manager Dillon Spencer.

What’s not to love? Young ladies got to don their pretty dresses and sparkly shoes, grab their dates (dads, grandpas, big brothers, uncles and others) and set out for a whole lotta “Winter Wonderland”-themed fun.

“Everybody Have a Good Time” blasted from the speakers, and no one needed more encouragement than that.

In addition to the dancing, there were craft and coloring stations, games, a photo booth, snacks and drinks and a basket auction promising dolls, games and toys, bedroom decor, craft kits and fashion accessories.

Special guests were a royal pair from Southmoreland High School — the Prince, junior Andrew Rodriguez, and the Princess, freshman Kendall Fabery. Wide-eyed, girls gathered round to have their photos taken with fairy tale characters come to life.

Organizers included leads Justin and Amber Shirer, along with Darcy Pallone, Melissa Wendell, Lisa Lehman, Linda Millslagle, Kathy Hecker and Dawn Keefer.
