Get some people together for a late afternoon drink, and it’s called happy hour.

Add a pack of dogs to the mix and it becomes — you guessed it — Yappy Hour.

Petagogy, a Hempfield store offering healthy and natural foods, treats and supplies for dogs and cats, sponsored the pet appreciation party March 29 with treats for both canines and their humans.

Guest bartenders representing Pet Friends, a North Huntingdon-based dog and cat rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming nonprofit, served up free beer to guests 21 and older. Petagogy, in turn, donated a portion of sales that evening to the organization.

For the pooches, there were free Barley Craft Dog Treats, made from spent malted barley, a byproduct of the beer brewing process, along with organic oat and rye flours.
