Irwin’s Lamp Theatre has a history worthy of stage and screen, from its beginnings as a local movie theater, through closing, fire and financial hardships, to once again providing entertainment on its storied stage.

At the fourth annual gala, held March 30 at the Antonelli Event Center in Irwin, board president John Gdula called the volunteer-run Lamp “the little theater that could.”

In 2018, the Lamp offered shows across a wide variety of entertainment genres that drew 25,000 patrons, Gdula said.

Theme for the evening was An Evening in Vegas, with Sin City-style entertainment following the opening reception and buffet dinner. The Murphy’s Music Center Big Band featuring “Almost Sinatra” John Noble provided music for dancing.

The evening also included casino-style games and auctions including a $1,500 cash prize and a Vegas-themed gift basket.

Gala committee members included Mary Benko, Denise Caralli, Cheryl Harper, Linda Kovach, John Qualley, Roberta Shoff and Terri Yurcisin.
