About 10 miles from Norvelt, more special couples gathered for another enchanted evening to remember.
It was the inaugural Daddy-Daughter Dance hosted by Latrobe-GLSD Parks & Recreation, held Feb. 22 at Greater Latrobe Senior High School in Unity.
The Center for Student Creativity was decked out like a scene from the perennially popular “Frozen” movie franchise.
Parks & Rec Director Craig Shevchik held the door as couples entered through a shimmering silver curtain of “icicles.” Inside, snowflakes and white balloons descended from the ceiling, with walls decked in more icy blue, silver and white.
A long table held snacks and blue “Frozen Punch.” If you ever want to get your kids to drink more water, try this Parks & Rec trick — fill a pitcher with water and lots of ice, drop a carrot and two large black buttons on the ice and label it “Melted Snowman.”
No “Frozen”-themed event is complete without an appearance by Elsa. Latrobe Art Center Executive Director Lauren Buches donned the blond wig and shimmering blue dress to play the plucky movie heroine. Every couple had the opportunity to take a photo with her.
DJ Coop kept the tunes coming for about 150 partygoers. Event organizers included Dawn Vavick, Cindy Smith, Katie Korzar and Keli Shevchik.
Seen: Avery and Chad Frye, Isabella and Jason Bush, Mielee and Nicholas Green, Anni and Neil Amina, Audrey and Zack Tomich, Madison and Jake Waterhouse, Jude and Jared McCormick, Lexie and Josh Cunningham, Addi and Jason West and Zoey, Molly and Jeremy York.
