Matt Leighty of Jeannette competes in the limbo contest during Cinco de Meowo, hosted by Wayward Whiskers and SOS Cat Rescue, held at the Youngwood Fire Hall on Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2019.

“Los gatos sin hogar necesitan tu ayuda.”

That translates from the Spanish as “The homeless cats need your help,” according to Google.

It also was the message of the annual Cinco de Meowo party held, appropriately, on Cinco de Mayo (or May 5) in the Youngwood Fire Hall.

Hosts were Jeannette-based SOS Cat Rescue and Greensburg-based Wayward Whiskers Animal Rescue. Both groups are dedicated to the rescue, care and rehoming of lost, abandoned, stray or unwanted cats and kittens.

Some adorable, irresistible kitties were among guests at the party, which also included a limbo contest.

Organization reps on hand included SOS president Dana Milliron and vice president Lori Hall and Wayward Whiskers president Katelynn Jones. Event chair was Suzanne Pierce.

Volunteer Karen Conder embodied the spirit of things in a furry kitty costume topped with a tiny sombrero.
