Out & About: Annual Wind Up/Wine Down benefits Norwin musicians

What’s a good way to spend a Saturday night? Some folks like to Wind Up/Wine Down.
That’s the name of the signature fundraiser for the Norwin Play It Forward Fund, which helps fund private lessons and music camps for Norwin School District students in grades 4-12 who participate in instrumental music programs.
The 10th annual fundraiser took place Nov. 23 at The Kitchen by Vangura in North Huntingdon.
If guests didn’t want to wine down with Greenhouse Winery, they could raise a glass with New Crescent and Quinn brewing companies. They also could make a circular route around the event space for a hearty array of eats from Atria’s, Cenacolo, Philly Pretzel Factory, Pittsburgh Popcorn Co. and Patti’s Pasticceria.
The Good Guys Duo provided a soundtrack of easy listening favorites.
Special guests were Cory Pietrusza and her daughter Caity Pietrusza, who had encouraged donations to the fund in memory of their late husband and father, Philip Pietrusza III. A sheet metal worker whose true passion was music, he passed away in 2018 at age 41. Some of the funds donated in his memory will be used toward a special workshop for the Norwin Band in 2020.
