Out & About: Annual Stage Right gala gets to the heart of the arts

When you go to a Stage Right party, you know you won’t just be eating, drinking and schmoozing — you know you’ll also be entertained.
There was plenty of entertainment at the Greensburg organization’s seventh annual Heart of the Arts Gala, held Saturday at Rizzo’s Banquet Hall in Crabtree. What else would you expect from a professional theater company and performing arts school?
The cocktail hour featured Stage Right performers and Murphy’s Big Band, while the Stage Right Sensations sang and danced as guests were seated for dinner.
After the meal, the cast of Stage Right’s upcoming musical, “Disney’s Newsies,” gave a preview of what audiences can expect Nov. 22-24 in Greensburg’s Palace Theatre. The evening wrapped up with dancing to the Murphy’s band.
Somewhere in between, the 2019 Heart of the Arts Award was presented to the Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau for its support of the region’s arts and cultural activities. Accepting was LHVB Executive Director Ann Nemanic.
Doug Estok also was honored as Stage Right volunteer of the year.
Gala co-chairs were Meghan Scalise and JoAnne Salvatore, aided by a committee of “Stage Right moms,” including Brittany Dopkowski, Briana Kane, Suzanne Mesher, Stacey Nedrow-Ross, Amanda Parente, Sharon Padezanin, Diane Petrazio, Becky Podolinski, Valarie Poole and Holly Smith.
