Have a heart: The Pittsburgh Heart Ball will celebrate its 30th anniversary

The Pittsburgh Heart Ball celebrates three decades of benefiting the American Heart Association on March 2 at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh.
About 800 guests are expected to attend.
Dr. Lewis H. Kuller, professor emeritus of epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh will receive the 2019 Peter J. Safar Pulse of Pittsburgh award. The Mary Ann Scully Excellence in Nursing award will be presented to Diane Berger, a registered nurse and program manager of structural heart disease at Allegheny General Hospital.
This year’s theme is Inspired HeART and is about sharing inspiration through art. Guests will enjoy art performances and activities. Artist Cody Sabol will create one-of-a-kind paintings. Balancing contortionist act Duo Resonance of “America’s Got Talent,” will perform.
“I’m honored to serve as chairman of the 30th anniversary of the Pittsburgh Heart Ball,” said Steven Guy, president and CEO of Oxford Development Company in a news release. “I’m passionate about the mission of the American Heart Association and the relentless efforts to make our communities healthier with lifesaving research and education. We plan to have a great time supporting an important cause that is personal to me.”
Nearly half of all adults in the U.S. have some form of cardiovascular disease, which includes coronary artery disease, stroke, heart failure and hypertension, according to the American Heart Association.
New this year is the Young Professionals Heart Ball happening at the same time. Both events will meet at the end of the evening for dancing and mingling.
