Wigle Whiskey releases spirits for holiday season
Wigle Whiskey is releasing its oldest whiskey to date this holiday season — starting Friday.
A nine-year, 195-bottle batch of Wigle Reserve Single Barrel Rye will be available, as well as an eight-year, 157-bottle batch of Wigle Reserve Single Barrel American Wheat Whiskey.
The rye, which is the oldest whiskey ever released by Wigle, has a balance of caramel, clove and hay, the Strip District-based craft distillery said.
“With no two barrels tasting exactly alike, this limited edition release embodies the time-honored tradition of Western Pennsylvania rye whiskey, showcasing unparalleled complexity and character,” Wigle said in a statement.
And the American wheat whiskey has a balance of warm, oaky notes and wheat, with layers of toffee, green apple and honey, according to Wigle.
A Stout Cask Finished Bourbon will be available, too, which is a collaboration with Levity Brewing Company in Indiana. The spirit has notes of roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, caramel and vanilla.
Wigle said the bottle lineup will be available in person and at Ross Park Mall Bottle Shops starting Friday. They will also be available online for shipping in Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
Bottles will also be available at kiosks in the South Hills Village Mall and Settlers Cabin Giant Eagle Market District during this holiday season.
Both of the Wigle Reserve Single Barrel bottles are $99 and the Stout finished bourbon is $65.
Wigle is also introducing a new product package for gifting — the Yinzer Box, which included a bottle of City of Champions Bourbon and two limited edition City of Champions whiskey glasses. There is a holiday version of the box as well, with one of the new bottles above and two limited edition holiday whiskey glasses.
Wigle’s holiday pop-up bar Wigle Wonderland will reopen this Saturday and remain open Thursday through Saturday evenings weekly throughout the holiday season.
