Fried chicken and buttermilk waffles; fried green tomatoes with basil and roasted red pepper sauce, served over heirloom grits with goat cheese; Tupelo shrimp and grits. Does this sound like food you can find in Pittsburgh?
Soon.
Very soon.
Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar will open in Station Square in January, serving traditional Southern and Appalachian food. So, get ready for dishes like bourbon peppercorn glazed meatloaf and banana pudding, featuring the brand’s famous 20-year-old recipe.
“While Tupelo Honey might be a national brand, we pride ourselves on creating a sense of community around each location that opens,” said Eric Gabrynowicz, Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar’s vice president of culinary.
“Our specialty is using great ingredients from responsibly-sourced vendors to craft brunches, lunches and suppers that bring friends together around our table,” he said. “We can’t wait to share our hospitality and scratch-made Southern food with the Pittsburgh community.”
The 5,000-square-foot venue is located at the Station Square riverfront complex. It will include a Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad Co. train depot mural and feature an Iron City beer garden and dog-friendly patio.
In addition, 17 beers will be on tap, with a showcase of local and regional brews from Southern Tier, Iron City, New Trail, Troegs, Evergrain, Voodoo, Straub, Erie and Fat Heads. A full bar serving signature cocktails will also be available.
Tupelo Honey will open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
