Chef Justin Severino of Morcilla in Pittsburgh

Morcilla on Butler Street in Lawrenceville has been selected as part of OpenTable’s top 100 restaurants of 2024.

The list is driven by diner reviews to determine the top restaurants across the country, according to OpenTable, and Morcilla was one of two chosen in Pennsylvania. The other was Saloon Restaurant in Philadelphia.

Chef Justin Severino opened Morcilla in December 2015 at 3519 Butler St. with his wife and co-owner, Hilary.

Serving Spanish-influenced cuisine to the Pittsburgh area, Morcilla has 4.9 out of 5 stars on OpenTable, where reservations can be made. There are 1,811 total reviews.

The full top 100 list can be found online.

OpenTable said this year’s list was generated from over 14 million verified OpenTable diner reviews and dining metrics from Oct. 1, 2023 to Sept. 30, 2024.

“Restaurants with a minimum threshold of diner reviews were considered and evaluated by a compilation of unique data points, including diner ratings, the percentage of five star reviews, the number of alerts set, the percentage of reservations made in advance, percentage of capacity and direct searches,” according to OpenTable.
