Highland Park restaurant to close

Park Bruges on Bryant Street in Highland Park will close its doors for good in the coming months.

The announcement was posted on the French-inspired bistro restaurant’s Facebook page Monday, saying a new restaurant concept will take its place.

“While a hard decision for us, it was made easier by having a good friend and fellow restaurateur ready to step up and step in,” the post said.

The Facebook post, signed by owners Jesse and Amy Seager, had garnered over 80 reactions within the first two hours it was online.

According to the post, Angela Earley, co-owner of Penn Avenue Fish Company, will take over the space with a “new restaurant concept” that Park Bruges said shares its “philosophy of dining.”

Park Bruges was closed Monday and nobody could be reached for comment. A person answering the phone at Penn Avenue Fish Company said Earley was not available.

Though there was no specific closing date of Park Bruges or an opening date of the new restaurant, the post said that the new concept will be introduced “in a few months.”

Park Bruges, which opened in 2011, said it will instead focus energy on its sister restaurant, Point Brugge Cafe, and its upcoming 20th anniversary in January 2025. Point Brugge is located on Hastings Street in Point Breeze.

“We can’t thank our loyal guests and residents of Highland Park enough for your patronage and kindness that we have experienced during our successful run,” the post said. “We hope to see you during our last few months of business!”
