Georgie’s Corner Bakery & Café announced it will close for good this weekend.

The Shadyside coffee shop at 5743 Walnut St. will have its last day of business on Sunday, according to a post on its Instagram account.

As of Friday afternoon, though, the account no longer exists.

The announcement was posted Thursday on the page.

“After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close our business after nearly four years of operation,” the post said. “We are honored to have been a part of the Shadyside community. Thank you to our neighbors for being our greatest supporters. We are so grateful for our loyal customers.”

The post also said Georgie’s hopes a new tenant “will soon continue our mission of providing a gathering space for the neighborhood.”

“Community is more important than ever!” the post said. “Food and coffee businesses employ creative, smart and highly competent people. At Georgie’s, we were lucky to have some of the best! We thank them for their commitment and hard work.”

The post was signed by Beth-Foley-Saxon and George Saxon.

A message seeking comment was left at the restaurant but not immediately returned.

Georgie’s is open from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., according to its website, with the kitchen closing at 2 p.m.
