Inductees to the Hall of Fame will be announced in May, and the induction ceremony will take place this fall in Cleveland.

To be eligible for nomination, an artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. Factors such as an artist’s musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique are taken into consideration when nominations are made, the Hall of Fame said in a release.

Almost half of the nominees are on the ballot for the first time this year, including Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, Jay-Z, Carole King (as a performer), Fela Kuti, and Dionne Warwick.

A fan vote is going on now through April 30 at the Hall of Fame’s website, with the top five artists selected by fans making a “fans’ ballot” that will be tallied along with other ballots to induct the 2021 class.
