What happens when you gather more than 40 bands steeped in funk, electronica, jam, rock fusion and more?
You get the sixth annual Resonance Music and Arts Festival, set for Sept. 19-22, which this year will move to a new location at Coopers Lake Campground in Slippery Rock.
“We’re really excited to officially be teaming up with (progressive-rock and electro-synth quintet) Papadosio this year, as well as our move to Cooper’s Lake,” says festival organizer and partner at Essential Productions Casey Schneider. “Resonance is really coming into its own, and I think it’s proper that it received a home all to itself.”
The festival originated in Ohio, near Papadosio’s hometown of Athens.
“The excitement is palpable for what will be the best Resonance festival yet,” says Papadosio singer and instrumentalist Anthony Thogmartin. “We’ve got a whopping four sets of sound and sight for you including a bunch of new music, and even a Gorillaz tribute set!”
Band members Sam and Billy Brouse will also perform separately as Brether, and Thogmartin will combine live instruments with mixing and looping technology to create unique electronic arrangements while performing as EarthCry.
Progressive-rock, jam-band and electronica fans will all find something to like among the festival’s heavy-hitters, which include Umphrey’s McGee (two sets), Pigeons Playing Ping Pong (three sets), TAUK, Twiddle, Dopapod, Keller Williams (three sets), Leftover Salmon and Zach Deputy, among many others.

The new location is a 500-acre site giving festival-goers more room to roam.
Tickets range from $225 for general admission up to a $450 VIP package that includes early access, artist meet-and-greets and more.
