Pittsburgh native rapper Mac Miller will have official new music out in the New Year — more than six years after his tragic death.

Miller’s estate revealed Wednesday that Miller’s project “Balloonerism” will be released Jan. 17.

“Many of Malcolm’s fans are aware of ‘Balloonerism,’ a full-length album that Malcolm created around the time of the release of ‘Faces’ in 2014,” Miller’s family said in a social media statement.

“We believe the project showcases both the breadth of his musical talents and fearlessness as an artist. Given that unofficial versions of the album have circulated online for years and that releasing ‘Balloonerism’ was something that Malcolm frequently expressed being important to him, we felt it most appropriate to present an official version of the project to the world.”

According to Rolling Stone, Miller’s estate has teased the album’s release previously, releasing a trailer for the album on YouTube.

The album was also teased this past weekend at a show performed by rapper Tyler, The Creator.

Miller — who attended Allderdice High School and performed his first show at Moondogs in Blawnox at 16 — released several albums, both independently and under major label Warner Bros. Records.

After he passed away as the result of an accidental overdose at 26 in 2018, his family released the album “Circles” in 2020.

His 2018 album “Swimming” earned him a posthumous Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Album in 2019.

Variety reports that various songs and tracklists from “Balloonerism” have leaked over the years, but this will be the first official release of the full work. It also includes album artwork by Alim Smith.

“Balloonerism” is available for preorder in vinyl, CD and cassette tape at shop.macmillerswebsite.com.
