New Orleans JazzFest cancels 2020 event after postponing
After an initial hope to keep it going later in the year, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fesitval is off for 2020.
The festival announced Thursday that the event would not take place this year and would pick up again April 22 to May 2 in 2021.
“With the covid-19 pandemic continuing to evolve unpredictably — and out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our community, including musicians, fans, participants, and staff — Jazz Fest 2020 will not occur this fall, as previously announced,” the festival said in a statement.

This year’s lineup was set to include Foo Fighters, The Who, Dead & Company, Stevie Nicks, Lizzo, Lionel Richie, the Black Crowes, Wu-Tang Clan and others.
“This conclusion is made after much careful deliberation. It takes something truly momentous to interrupt a 50-year New Orleans tradition as special as the Festival, but we feel strongly that the most prudent course right now is to allow more time for the situation to stabilize,” New Orleans JazzFest said later in the statement.
The festival was initially postponed on March 17 to the fall, but no dates were announced at that time.
